Vol. 3. Operetta at Landrum Boy’s and Girl’s Glee Club, “Miss Cherry Blossom”, of Landrum High School will give an Operetta at the Landrum Graded School building Thursday, at 8 o’clock. Admission 10c and 25c. Firemen Meet Thursday Night Special meeting of the Tryon Fire Department called tor tomorrow night at 7:30 o’clock. All members urged to attend. Poultry Shipments Valuable County Agent J.W. Am states that so far this season 6,250 pounds of chickens have been solo out ol Polk county to the poultry cars bringing $1,041.00 to 150 farmers and farm women. These chickens are mostly the culls and surplus stock that could not be disposed of otherwise. The season lasts until July. Last year 450 people sold 17,500 pounds which brought to the county $4,2001 -fl McDonalds Hosts to Riding Club Mr. and Mrs. Frtd J. McDonald entertain the Tryon Riding and Hunt Club Thursday morning. A ride wilt begin at 10 o’clock at Harmon Field and close with luncheon at 12:30 at the beautiful McDonald home on Markham Rd. ' Cloud Out For House Announcement is made that Mr. E.B. Cloud of Co lumbus mill ran for the House of representatives in the coming primary. When interviewed today. Mr. Cloud said: “For the past several months suggestions have been made to me that I become a candidate for the State Senate or the House of Rep resentatives and I have said that I would do so provided a hard primary light could be avoided that would be detrimental to party harmony and co-operation. For many reaspns I am disinclined to become a fourth can didate in the senatorial race,* but if lam the choice of a majority of my party for the house I will try to serve the people to the best of my abil tty in that capacity, if given the opportunity in the primary and general election.” No. 35
