C., WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13, 1930. James B. Pace Buried Burial Rites for James B. Pace, rge 64, who died Sunday at his home near Tryon, were held Monday at the cemetery. Four children survive: Mrs. Clarence Bruce of Hendersonville; Dewey Pace of Asheville; Alex and Raleigh Pace of Tryon. His widow, formerly Miss Aniinta Rhodes, also survives him. Twenty Enter Saluda Tournament The Miniature golf tournament held at Saluda last night on the Arrow Head Links drew twenty entries. The men’s prize was won by Dr. B. B. Bishop of Tryon: but the ladies was won by Miss Betty Thomas of Saluda. Seven Tryon men, seven Salu da ladies, three Tryon ladies and three Saluda men eqtered as follows: Julian Hester of Tryon defeated R.J. Scott, Saluda; Chas. Ander son, Saluda defeated Leland Butler of Tryon; Dr. B. B. Bishop beat John Darby of Saluda; Walter Glover of Tryon won from Chas. Nessmith of Tryon; and James Moore eliminated John Doggett. Moore drew a bye. Hester won over Anderson and Bishop over Glover; Hester then elimi nated Moore only to lose to Bishop. The ladies games were played as follows: Miss Betty Thomas over Mrs. B. B. Bishop; Mrs. George Can field over Mrs. Hume Fraser; Miss Edna Fisher over Miss Sally Bellinger; Mrs. Calhoun over Mrs. Jenkins; Mrs. R. T. Hopkins over Mrs. R.. H. Hopkins. In the finals Miss Thomas defeated Mrs. Canfield and Mrs. R. /Nj T. Hopkins who had eliminated Mrs. Calhoun and then won over Miss -s Fisher who had drawn a bye. Negroes Sing Sundag Lovers of fine negro music will get a rare treat Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock in Tryon at the Colored Methodist church. Four negro quartets will enter a contest for a prize. Those competing are Spindale Quartet, Simpson Quartet, Tryon High School Quartet, ana Littlejohn Quartet of Thousand Pines. Eva Holmes, well-known Tryon colored woman, will sing a solo, fudges will come from Inman, S. C. White people especially invited to attend. bulletin prints JCetledjea&s No. 168
