C., WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 27, 1930. No. 180 Auto-Scooter Collision Mr. O’Dell Peeler of Landrum in a Chevrolet roadster collided with little Joe* Joe Bartleson, age 9, who was riding a four wheel scooter Tues day afternoon about six o’clock near his home at the junction of Trade street and the road to the Valley. The little fellow was thrown into the air by the force of the impact and narrowly escaped serious injury by landing on the dirt shoulder of the highway. In his effort to avoid hit ting the child Mr. Peeler swerved his car striking the right front wheel against a stone wall and zig zagged back into a ditch and broke the front axle. Mr. Peeler was not hurt. Joe Joe suffered only painful bodily bruises. Kiwanis Hear Dr. Clark Dr. John Brittan Clark spoke at Kiwanis yesterday and gave an interesting account of his vacation. He also ur ged the showing of agricultural moving pictures for the benefit of the farmers. Colored Musical Comedo Advertisement in Thursday’s Bulletin will state that a musical comedy is to be given by the Good Hope club at the Good Shepherd School, Friday night at 8:30. Public invited for small admission. Business Picking Up Cool weather and farm crops have already stimulated local business according to several Tryon merchants . Prospects are improving. Another Still Captured Officers Edwards, Staton and Melton raided an 80 gallon still in Cooper’s Gap in operation gesterdag afternoon about six o’clock and captured 8 gallons of mash.
