Arrested Tiiesdag Night
Luther Porter, young white man, allegd to have entered home
of Mr. Mark Smith yesterday and stole some clothing and other
things. He was put in Columbus jail by Constable Lit Durham.
Wednesday, Today
Postmaster S. B. Edwards family is stricken. His daughter, Miss Gwendolyn,
is in Dr. Jervey’s hospital at Greenville where she went in an effort to save
her eyesight which is almost gone. 7his afternoon, his son, Bryson, a clerk in
the post office, was taken to St. Lukes hospital for appendix operation.
Thursday
At 10 a. m. Mayor Missildine has issued a call
meeting upon request at his hall for all those inter
ested in haring a hank in Tryon, Notice was pub
lished yesterday.
At 3:30 at Lanier Library Miss Hazel Abbott of
Converse college will address the public on “The
Modern Drama". All invited.
Friday
Rotary club meets Ip.m. at Oak Hall. Tbis ar
rangement will continue until futjher notice.
Saturday
County teachers meet at Columbus at 9 a.m. Dr. J.C. Calfee, of
Asheville Normal, principal speaker.
