EPISCOPAL CHURCH: Holy Communion 8 A. M. Morning prayer and ' sermon AM. • | Chamber of Commerce Meeting The annual meeting was held last night at Oak Hall following the supper. All local organizations were represented. Retiring president Prentice Luckey presided. Secretary A. A. Merrick gave a good report of the year's activities., v.; Talks were made by Dr. Grady, F. W. Crandall, John Landrum, Frank Moore, Bishop Touret, B. E. Missildine, Carter P. Brown, and Mrs. Robert B. Peattie. V V- Officers elected for this year are Geo. A. Cathey, president; J, Foster Searles, vice-president; Douglas Blois, treasurer; directors Ray Jackson, J. S. Massenburg, and Fred E.* Swann. A. A. Merrick was, elected secretary. During the year the Chamber of Commerce answered 319 written inquiries within 24 hours after receiving them. No record kept of the many oral inquiries. The postoffice Dept, was persuaded to replace the Sunday evening mail service which it had discontinued here. The rail road was induced to place a watchman at the crossing when trains are uncoupled there. Material and cuts for out of town magazines were fur nished from time to time and at all times the organization has been seeking the welfare of the community. v Est. 1-31-28
