Citizens Nominate Ticket
At the Citizens meeting held last night at the City Hall with about 30
present the following ticket was nominated for the May sth elec
tion: For mayor, E. E. Missildine; Commissioners, T. W. Ballew, C. W.
Ballenger, Ralph Jackson; School Board, Douglas S. Blois, /ames Lank
ford, Nelson Jackson, jr.; Cemetery Commissioners, T, H. Coggey, Mrs.
Alice K. Missildine, J. Foster Searles.
Field Meet Postponed
The county track meet for today was postponed on account of rain.
Several races were run. Fred Greene of Tryon made a spectacular run in
the 220-yd. dash, coming out first. A big crowd was present which was
greatly disappointed that the meet Could not go on.
District Doctors Coming
The doctors of the Tenth District will hold their spring meeting in
Tryon next Wednesday at the Parish House at 2p. m. with dinner at
6:30 at the Lake Lanier Tea House. Dr. Jervey is vice-president of the
Society. Eight subjects will be discussed before dinner, and three ad
dresses afterwards. The visiting ladies will be entertained at St. Lukes
hospital by the Hospital Auxiliary. Mayor E. E. Missildine will give the
address of welcome, and Rev. C. P. Burnett the Invocation. Dr. S. O.
Black of Spartanburg is one of the invited speakers.
Court Mondag
Spring term of Superior court will open Monday in Columbus with
Judge Schenck presiding.
