Fred Swann for Commissioner
Fred E. Swann, local merchant and former commissioner, stated
today that he would be a candidate for 'commissioner on the
Tryon council in the coming May election. Mrs. A. A. Merrick
and Mrs. Frank McFarland have been suggested for the Cemetery
Commission. George A. Cathey has also announced for the council.
'Big Crowd at Field Dag
A large crowd of school pupils from all over the .county
were gathered at Harmon Field this afternoon for the annual
Field Day races.
Operetta at Columbus
The Columbus School grammar grade department
will present an operetta Fridag night at Stearns
School auditorium.
Methodist Revival Sundag
Two weeks revival services will begin Sundag night
at the Trgon Methodist church, Rev. H.F. Duncan of
Mills River preaching.
Mrs. Holden P.T.A. Speaker
Mrs. E.G. Holden will speak at the Trgon P. T. A.
meeting Mondag at 3:30. Tea will he served bg Mrs.
Jerveg, Mrs. McFarland and Mrs. Davenport.
