7 Bills Passed lor Polk
The following bills for Polk County have been passed by the
' state legislature.
Validate the acts of the Polk county boajrd of commissioners with
reference to county tax list ot 1930.
Repeal certain laws relative to enforcement of prohibition laws in
Polk County. This old law provided for bonus for capture of automo
biles and persons charged with violation of prohibition laws.
Appoint special school committee for Green Creek district in Green
Creek township, Polk county.
Abolish office of tax collector and place duty of cdllecting taxes in
hands of sheriff of Polk county.
Appoint road supervisor for Polk county.
Amend charter of Town of Saluda so' as to provide for extension of
corporate limits.
Fix salary and fees for the sheriff of Polk county.
Revival Shoivs Interest
The Revival services being held at the Tryon Methodist church are draw
ing crowds. Rev. H.F. Duncan qf Fletcher, graduate of Emory University,
is conducting the services every afternoon at 3:30 and at night at 8.
Children and those can’t go outsat night are urged to attend the after
k noon services. His subject for tonight will be “The Convicting Power
*of the Holy Spirit.” v '
Landrum Man Buried
Mr. J. Sam Watson, prominent former merchant of Landrum, was buried
Sunday afternoon at New Prospect Baptist church. Dr. E. E. Bomar of
Tryon officiated, assisted by Rev. A.C. Odom, of Lahdrum. Part of the
large crowd attending the service could not get in the church. Widow
and several children survive.
Tilting Tournament Wednesday
The Riding and Hunt club’s Tilting Tournament and pageant will be
held Wednesday 3:30 p.m. at Harmon Field. Twelve riders are planning
to take part in this event which promises to be a pageant of unusual
beauty. *
