Vol. 4 Legion Meets Tonight The American Legion meeting will be held to- night at the Royal Case in Landrum. Tilting Tournament Wednesdag The Annual Tilting Tournament of the Tryon Riding & Hunt Club will be held tomorrow at Harmon Field, beginning at 3:30. Admission fifty cents. Newell, Kiwanis Speaker Rev. W.A. Newell was the principal speaker at the Kiwanis Club today. He spoke against the sales tax plan, and predicted that unless we watch ourselves the political situation in this country will get into a mess. Curtis Arledge spoke briefly in favor of the sales tax which will allow people who own nothing to help support the government that gives them protection and comforts the same as a property owner. Mills Freed of Murder Charge In the criminal court session last week at Columbus, William Mills, colored, was freed of the charge of killing Napoleon Cheek, colored, on Jan. 20.
