FRIDAY, APRIL 24 1931. $15,000 Fire at Saluda Spartanburg Herald Saluda, N. C., April 24. Fire of undetermined origin ealy this morn- _ ing destroyed the Melrose Inn, 35 room hostelry here. The loss was esti mated at $15,000. The Inn was built 35 years ago, and when burned was being operated by Misses Lillian and Addie Heriot. No guests were in the hotel when it was destroyed. Trtjon Operetta Tonight The Mother Goose Operetta will be presented by the Tryon School pri mary department tonight at the School auditorium. 10 cents will be charged all those not in the primary grades. This small charge is made to cover some incidental expenses. “The children of the Shoe being difficult to manage by the Old Woman, she phones The-Man-in-the Moon for advice. During her con versatipn, the children are planning a surprise for her. They appear dressed as Mother Goose children. Later, the real mother Goose Chil dren all the way from Mother Goose Land visit them. Herald Men and Wliiskeg Taken Three Negro men and about 50 gallons of whiskea were captured this morning near the ice plant bg of ficers W-Y.Wilkins, J.C.Walker, W.D.Hines and Tit Durham. Last night at Melrose three other negro men and seven and a half gallons of liquor were caught. Est. 1-31-28
