Fight Over Horse Racing When news leaked out that the legislature was about to pass a bill legalizing horse racing in Polk county a protest was raised. Dr. John Brittan Clark and the Rev. C.P. Burnett are in Raleigh today to en ter the protests of several organizations. Opponents claim the law woutd bring here a lot of gamblers and undesirable citizens Those wanting the law claim it will bring more money here. Do you want that kind of money? " 3 More Stores Rohbed Burglars again entered the M. A. Pace Store at Saluda Tuesday night and stole some merchandise including some which had been recovered from a previous robbery. The first robbery was made several weeks ago, the second Monday night and the third Tuesday night at which time Sonnet’s store and the drug store were also entered. Small Fire of Ljjhh The Fire department was called to Lynn this morning, to a small fire at the Cochran home, but the flames were put out in a few minutes Six Stories Sold' The Electric Rage campaign is starting off with full speed.
