Filohorman Bowling Team
The Fiioharman Bowling team ot Tryon composed of the following men:
J. E. Lowe, Ralph Hardin, Ebb Fisher, Jim Fisher, and Jack Mangum are
issuing challenges to any local or out of town teams for matches.
Racing Bill Passed
The House passed the racing bill yesterday for McDowell
County. Practically the same bill asked for Polk county in the
Senate. The bill gives the county $90,000 in taxes besides one
tenth of the gross receipts.
Trgon School Closes
Dr* Luther Little delivered the Literarg address last
night to a packed auditorium. He took for his sub
ject “God’s Garden” and emphasized that education
was conquest, the overcoming of handicaps, and that
the poor bog or girl had better chance for education
than the rich.
Saves Countg $31,931
If the revenue bill passes the state legislature it will save Polk
County $31,931 according to dispatches from Raleigh to the
Asheville Citizen. This will iqean a reduction in County taxes to
that extent.
Stove Quota Reached
Fifteen electric ranges have been sold during the present campaign to
Tryon users of S.P.U. current. The quota of 15 had been set by the
company officials and Mr. Austin and. the staff responded as usual. The
Tryon office always has a successful campaign, and good service is mak
ing future sales easier.
