Vol. 4 Grading Nears Completion Grading on new Spartanburg-Tryon highway is nearing completion, say engineers in charge. It will be necessary to provide for several detours in the near future, it was stated. The first detour will be made between Campobello and Landrum and will be put into use within the next few hours. Highway officials stated Tuesday night that detours will not inter fere with travel on the present highway this summer. The majority of the detours will not be put into use until the last part of July or the first part of August. Troon Bowling Team Wins Rutherfordton met defeat here last night at the local alley when Tryon’s team composed of Sid Cairnes, Jim and Eb Fisher, S.B.Edwards and J.E. Lowe played them with a margin of 40 pins in five games. The Ruther fordton team was composed of Jackson, Bradley, Hampton, McEntire and Holland. Taylor substituted for Lowe in the last game for Tryon. Postmaster Williams substituted for Rutherfordton. Total scores, Tryon: 3913; Rutherfordton: 3873. Ford-West Marriage Miss Gertrude West, assistant cashier of Polk County Bank & Trust Co. of Columbus and Mr. Jack Ford, of The Town ot Tryon Service Dept, were married Sunday afternoon in Greenville at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.C.Scott. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. C.C.West and the groom is a son of Mrs. W.J.Ford. C. M. T. C. Bogs Leaving Over 930 young men from North and South Carolina have received orders to report at Fort Bragg, N. C., on Friday, June 12th, for one month’s service with the 1931 Citizens Military Training Camp. The camp this year will be commanded by Major Harvey D. Higley, of the 17th Field Artillery, Fort Bragg. The Boys going from Polk County are: Billie Byers, Laurence Holmes and Marion Palmer of Tryon. Lewis Barber and Uel Kirk of Saluda.
