24-Mile Detour To Open
A detour of approximately 24 miles on the Spartanburg-Tryon highway,
which will be used for the next three months or longer, will be put into
use Tuesday, it was announced Thursday. The detour will iead from the
present highway near the end of the pavement just beyond the Southern
Shops. It leads from a crossroad near the end of the hardsurfacing on the
present highway and runs to the left and north to the old Blackstock
road, crossing the railroad tracks just a few miles from the city. It pro
ceeds to Sigsbee and thence through the Holston and Motlow sections
to Gowansville. The road then follows the present route to Bird Moun
tain where it intersects the present highway. From near that point, it
crosses the railroad on an overhead bridge and runs to the North Caro
lina line. -Spartanburg Herald.
Public Meeting Tonight
A public meeting to consider Town affairs has been
called for tonight at 8 o’clock at the Parish House-
Bog Scout Meeting Tonight
The regular Bou Scout meeting will he held tonight
at 7:30 at the Trgon School House.
Lgnn Loses Ball Game
Lynn lost its baseball game yesterday afternoon at Harmon Field to
Davis Station by a score of 6-4. Foster and Oates formed the local bat
tery.
Mimosa Festival Next Thursday
A gala event is planned for July 2 when a Mimosa festival will be
held on the lawn of Mimosa Inn. Manager W. H. Stearns is having the
lawn put in good shape and a large crowd is expected. Fifty cents covers
the charges tor games and supper. Phone Miss Flentye for reservations.
