Est. 1-31-28 Oak Hall Hotel Sold Oak Hall Hotel has been formally transferred from the Brownlee Es tate to M. A. Richards of Tryon and New Jersey. Mr. Waverly Hester will continue to operate the hostelry. The price was not given out, Mr. Richards plans some extensive improvements including repainting the building, erecting a sun porch in the back, putting in new floors in the dining room, lobby and porches, improving the grounds and putting on an advertising campaign for the hotel and Tryon. Health Contest Saturday The Mountain district representing 16 counties will send delegates to St. Lukes hospital Saturday to determine the healthiest boy and girl in the 4-H clubs of this section. The dinners will go to Raleigh. Building & Loan Re-Organized The Polk County Building & Loan Assn, was re organized Tuesday with E. B. Cloud as president, John W. Artz, vice-president, ll.H.Carson, secretary treasurer. Recorder’s Court Next Tuesday His honor, E. B. Cloud, the judge, and Atty. John Burgess as solicitor, will open the first Recorder’s court in Polk County next Wednesday, July 15th. On the docket are 40 cases left over from the last Superior court and 30 new cases sent up from the magistrates courts. The-Record er’s court will meet every second Tuesday in each month. Ti*gon Township Tax Assessors Meet Todag At The Citg Hall Anyone having property in Tryon Township have an opportunity today to meet the local tax assessors together with the tax supervisor at the City Hall beginning at 10 a.m. If you disagree with these officers as to the tax value of yout property go to the City Hall this afternoon and persuade them to your way of thinking.
