Mrs M. JL Durham Dies
Mrs. Margaret Lindsey Durham, 68, of Soumerco, Tryon, died suddenly
this morning at her home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.
m. at the Second Baptist church with Rev. Howard and Rev. Summey,
officiating. The pallbearers: Fred Whitmire, W. T. Cantrell, Crawford'
Whitmire, Lnther Powell, J.O. Hayes, J. K. Ward. The deceased was theff
Widow of the late Lnther Durham. Nine children survive.
Dr. Clark at Kiwanis
Dr. John Brittan Clark, chairman of the Education Committee of the
Kiwanis club has charge of the program Tuesday at Mimosa. Three'
speakers C. P. Rogers, J.G. Landrum and J.N.Jackson will talk ten min
utes each on the general subject: “The chances for the right kind of boy,
and what is the right kind of boy.” Eight boys of the. senior class ~have
been invited as special guests to hear these talks. ...

Miss Jennie Barber and Mr. Hugh Edwards, both of
Mill Spring mere married gesterdag in Spartanburg.
Mr. Edwards operates the sendee' station and is a
son of Mr. and Mrs. Elias Edwards. The bride is a
daughter of Mr. J. M« Barber.
Tennis Tourneg Near End
Only one event left to close fall tournament of the Tennis Assn’.,
and that for men singles between W. M. Hester and J. S. Massenburg.
Hester defeated Lavendar yesterday. The Mixed doubles were won by T.
Wilcox and Miss Burtenshaw over C. Rogers and Miss S. Rogers.
NOTE: The men’s doubles are”yet to be played between Bacon & Mas
senburg and Law & Hester.
