Carroll Roger’s, no kin to Will Rogers, gave his life story today at Kiwanis. This is required of every member. Like Oliver Wendell Holmes who believes the training of a child should begin 100 years before he is born, Mr. Rogers began his story 100 years ago when his grandfather came South as a Connecticut Yankee, but cast his lot with the Confederacy in the Civil War. The speaker began his interesting life as the son of a Methodist minister. After college he took up textile work and while an. executive met a girl from Tryon, and that’s why he lives here now.
