Bacon, New Commissioner
Former Senator, Commissioner and Mayor, F.P. Bacon was
elected by the Town Council last night as a Town Com
missioner to fill the vacancy made by the resignation of
Fred £. Swann.
Town Budget Made
The Town Commissioners met last night and adopted its budget for the
coming fiscal year, a summary of which is published on bade page of
today’s Bulletin. A more detailed statement is on file at the Town Of
fice, at the Bulletin office and the News office for the benefit of any
who may care to see it. The tax rate has been reduced from SI.BO to
$1.75. The entire taxes for next year will be used to pay on the retire
ment of bonds and interest. And none of the tax money will be used
to operate the Town as enough money is available from other sources
for this purpose.
Sponsor tor Road Fete
Miss Bertha Palmer has named Tryon’s sponsor for the big highway
celebration at Harmon Field, July 9th. Misses Mary Rogers and Patricia
Slagle will be maids of honor.
Style Shoppe Opens Saturday
•‘The Style Shoppe,” a ladies ready to wear establishment, will be
opened Saturday by Mrs. C.H.Lippin of New York City and Miss Ro
zelle Burnett of Tryon in the building next to Southern Public Utilities.
