Scouts Rescue 2 From Drotriaiiag
Executive R, M. Schiele of the Piedmont Scout camp received a letter
a few days ago from the Scoutmaster at Kings Mt. who reports that two
children there were saved from drowning by Piedmont Camp scouts. An
eleven year old girl was saved by a 12 year old Scout who had learned
to swim this June at Lake Lanier. Hank and Richard Wilson also of
Kings Mt. saved a large boy from drowning by administering artificial
respiration after he had been unconscious sometime.
“Noble Outcast* at Saluda
The Columbus Christian Endeavor Society made such a success last
week in presenting the play “A Noble Outcast” that it will be repeated
at Saluda High School, Thursday, August 18 at 8 p.m. Admission 10
and 20 cents.
“Once in a Bine Moon”
is the name of a show to be given here for two days on Sept. I and 2nd
at the Parish House for the benefit of the Helping Hand. Production
will be under direction of the Oaks Studio of Winston Salem. Woodrow
W. Williams, booking agent for the Studio was here last week making
arrangements. “Once in a Blue Moon” was written by Allen Ryall, a
Carolina Playmaker, The cast will be composed of local people. The
company furnishes nearly fifty costumes and will send a director for the
show to Tryon in a few days.
All About The Fair
Here ’tis: It will be held at the Parish House, Thursday, day after to
morrow, Aug. 18. beginning at 8 p.m. sharp, no foolin’. Admission 15
and 25c. That’s important for the money goes to buy school books for
poor children. Well, the first thing is a 4-act Vaudeville program under
the misdirection of the Kings Jester, little Boy Blue Bishop. If you
don’t laugh it won’t be his fault. Then after the laughter and applause
has quited down, obstreperous confusion will take place; booth criers
selling this and that; fortune tellers, refreshment traders and an auctioneer
all plying their trade. Gossipers and sweethearts, and children.
