WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17, 1932 Scouts Fish Fry Tonight The Tryon Boy Scouts will hold their Fish Fry tonight at Harmon Field beginning at 6 o’clock, C. J. Lynch is directing the fry. This morn ing Mr. Lynch was having made a sample fish scaler made of Coca-Cola tops nailed upside down to a paddle. It is more effective than a knife and all scouts can easily make one, Kiwanis To Picnic Tuesday The Tryon Kiwanis club, wives, sweethearts, children and friends will hold a picnic next Tuesday afternoon at Lake Lanier Beach beginning at 3:30 for those who want to fish, swim, and play, The picnic supper will be served at 6;30 so business men can attend. Each family must bring enough food for the members in its party. In case of rain the picnic will be held at Mimosa Inn. C. J. Lynch, L.A, Avant and John G. Landrum have charge of the program. Unify W. N. C. Says Speaker D.Hiden Ramsey, general manager of the Asheville Citizen-Times addressed the Tryon Kiwanis club yesterday. He said that he believed the general force of the depression had spent itself and that now it was time for us to analyze our resources tor the coming normal times; to unify our objects and promote a general plan of development for the mutual benefit of all the communities in Western North Carolina. Geographically, socially, politically and economically we are ONE COMMUNITY with common ideals and interests. We can advance quicker and better by co-operating with one another. Guests at Kiwanis included Mrs. J. N. Jackson, Miss Elizabeth Land rum, M R.McCown, J.R. Marks of Asheville, S. T. Wood and Dr. M. C. Palmer, Masons Here Friday 38th Dist. Masons meet here Friday, 4 p. m. at the Masonic Hall with Dist. Dep. Grandmaster G.E. Bell presiding. Mayor £. £. Missildine will deliver the welcome address. Supper at 6:30 at Mime Inn. Reconvene at 7;30 at the Lodge. Est. 1-31-28
