Miss Tryon Named For Ball Miss Margaret Kerhulas has been selected by Mayor Missildine as “Miss Tryon” at the Queen Elizabeth Ball to be given at Saluda, Mon day, Aug. 22, sponsored by the Saluda Dramatic club. Rotary Meets Tonight Dist. Governor Roy Z. Thomas of Rock Hill, S. C. will address the Tryon Rotary club tonight at Oak Hall at 7:30. He will speak of the part Rotary plays in the affairs of the inaioidual, community and the world. News Gleanings W. S. Green was seen rolling an iron wheelbarrow down the street this morning. He says it is to haul coal in from the trucks to customer’s coal bins; another problem in transportation solved, Red Harrison has painted a house against the show windows of Avant Electric Co. and left some square spaces for windows through which he advertises articles. Mgr. Mebane of Slack’s Pharmacy has about thirty butterflies pinned on the fountain mirror. A retired college professor has written Mr. Howes that he wants to come to Tryon if he can find a house and an acre of land for sale. N.R. Rector says he has put in a lot of new equipment and is ready for business when it comes back. Received our County tax notice today; that’s good news, shows that the government is still functioning.
