THURSDAY, OCT 20, 1932 Vol. 5 Society to Discuss Indians The Women’s Society of the Congregational Church will meet next Tuesday at the home of Miss Susan Harper. The subject is "American Indians”. Short talks will be made by Mrs. G. K. Meneely on "The A Indian Mission Schools”, Mrs. George E. Morton on "Indian Education Today”, Mrs. Nelson Jackson on "Cherokee Indians", Mrs. John Brittan Clark on "Indian Attitude Toward Co-operation”. Inter=Citg Rotarg Meet Here Hendersonville Rotary club will meet with the Tryon club Friday night at Oak Hall at 7 o’clock. A special Boy Scout program will be presented by Piedmont camp officials. Dr. Jervey is chairman of the program. . Honor Roll lor Trijon High Eighth grade: Louise Moore, John David McGeachy, Billy Ward. Ninth grade: Alene Ward. Rachel Jackson. Eleventh grade: Ruth Lockhart, Harold Shel nutt, Helen Denfield, Elizabeth Kerhulas, and Isabelle Durham, Josephus Daniels Speaks Here Friday Former Secretary of the Navy, under whom Roosevelt worked, and North Carolina’s most prominent citizen, will speak Friday in Columbus at 1 \ p.m. at the Courthouse. Public invited. J OTHER DEMOCRATIC SPEAKING DATES Attorney C.O.Ridings will speak at Saluda School, Monday, Oct. 24th at 7:30 p.m. Attorney General Dennis G. Brummitt will speak at Green Creek school, Saturday the 29th at 7:30 p.m. Congressman Zeb Weaver will speak at Columbus Courthouse Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m. E. B. Cloud is chairman of the Polk County Demooratic Committee. Football Friday. Town vs School A Tryon team composed of former football players will play the High School team at Harmon Field, Friday at 3:30. Admission 10 and 15c. Those scheduled so far the Town team are M.B. Caldwell, Buchanan, H. Newman, Red Lockhart, Case, F. Swann, H. Nessmith, Clyde Edwards, Rob and Roy Capps, Knykendall. Others will go in as substitutes if needed. Masons at Hendcrsonoillc Mill Spring, Saluda and Tryon Masons and their wives will have picnic supper at Orr’s camp Friday at 4:30 p.m. and then meet at the Hender sonville lodge after supper.
