C., MONDAY, JAN. 14, 1935 Saluda High Gage Teams Capture Two Saluda, Jan. 12.—Saluda high took both ends of a twin bill from the Hendersonville basketeers here Friday night. In the opening skirmish the girls won, 31 to 26, and the boys captured the feature, 30 to 8. The girls’ game was especially interesting. FUNERAL RITES FOR BRUMMITT Raleigh, Jan. 14. Dennis G. Brummitt, attorney general of North Carolina since 1925, will be laid to rest at Oxtfdrd in his na tive Granville county this after noon. The attorney general succumbed at his home here shortly afteir noon Saturday, following an illness (f influenza which developed into pneumonia. Governor Ehringhaus and Lieut.- Gov. A. H. Graham will head an official state delegation to attend the funeral services. Kiwanis Tuesday C. M. Howes will have charge of the Tryon Kiwanis program Tuesday when the club meets at 1 p. m., at Edgewood Inn. W. E. Kilpin will give the current events talk. Dr. J. B. Clark Is Spartanburg Speaker Dr. John Brittan Clark, chair man of the Underprivileged Child arid Vocational Guidance Commit tee of the Tryon Kiwanis club has been selected to give the chief address at the Spartanburg Ki wanis club Thursday noon in ' Spartanburg at the Cleveland hotel. The occasion will be the celebration of the anniversary >f Kiwanis International. Officers Chosen At Sunny View Grange Meeting Columbus, Jan. 12.—The Sunny View Grange met Friday evening in its regular session. After the literary program, new officers were elected for the year. The following are the new offi cers : Master, F. W. Taylor; over seer, T. E. McKee; lecturer, Miss Eunice Whiteside; chaplain, Miss Addie Lee Wilson; treasurer, I. M. Powell: secretary, Melville Powell; assistant steward, Ger trude Whitesides; steward, Lau rence Whiteside; lady assistant Steward, Miss Nellie Jones, and gate keeper, Laxton Jones.
