C., MONDAY, JAN. 28, 1935 United Dry Forces Meet In Columbus The United Dry Forces will hold a county-wide meeting this even yig at 7:30 in the Columbus Bap tist church. Representatives from every township in the county are expected attend. Highway Projects A highway construction pro gram costing $5,640,770 will be carried nut in 22 Western North Carolina counties as the funds are made available by the legislature, the State Highway and Public Works commission announced Sat urday. The program for Polk county includes new construction, state highways, $138,000; new sur face treatment, state highways, $40,000; total state, $178,000. No county projects. Hunt Club Dates The Tryon Hounds hunting dates have been announced as fol lows: Block House on Wednesday. Jim Fisher’s place on Saturday. Hounds leave Kennels at 10:30 in the morning. O. Vance Johnson Funeral services for O. Vance Johnson, 36, who died Saturday at Baltimore, Md. after a month’s illness, will be held this afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at the home of his mother, Mrs. H. V. Johnson, 609 North church street, Spartanburg, conducted by the Rev. F. E. Dibble Interment in Oakwood cemetery.. ' Mr. Johnson attended Wolford college. During the World War he served in the aviation corps. For several years he was connected with the Geer Drug Co. He had re sided in Spartanburg most of the time until last fall when he mov ed to Tryon Surviving are his widow, the former Miss Margue rite Simmons of Johnston, S C, a daughter, Rachel, his mother and the following brothers and sisters: Louis P. Johnson of Goldsboro, N. C., H. G. Johnson, Elmer C. John son. Bessie, Mary, Allene and Sa ra Johnson, all of Spartanburg.
