Eargle In two hard fought gamss last night (Thursday) the Industrial team defeated the Merchants by a score of 30 to 2. In the second game the Firemen team defeated the Scumerco-Lynn team 17 to 6. The winning margin of the win ners doesn’t mean that the losers were outclassed, for as far as passing and all-around team work the teams were well balanced. The losers time and again worked the ball in scoring position only to miss the basket by inches. The feature of the games was makde by the good sportsmanship of the players. Both games were hard fought and well officiated. The line-up as follows: 7 Industrials — Greene, f (2); Ed wards, f (3); Jess Walker, c (14); Jno. Lynch, treasurer of the Tryon Birthday Ball for the President, reports as follows on *he financial outcome of the entertainment: Total receipts, $217.80; expenses, $95.09; net profit, $122.21. Seventy per cent or $82.40 remains in the hands of the general commit tee to be expended for infan tile paralysis work in Polk county; the remaining 30 per cent or $38.66 has been for * warded to national head quarters and .will be used in a national campaign to combat the ravages of the disease.
