In the first game the Mer chants took the lead early and held it nearly all the first half but the Firemen led by Jim Fish er went on a scoring spree and took the lead only to lose it again. Soon after the second half started the red shirted Firemen took the lead again and from that point on they were never overcome. McFee, Jr., 29 years old, of Asheville, is the new deputy for the grand council of the order Mf* DeMolay in North Carolina. His was officially an nounced here today by Frank S. Land, founder and secretary gen eral of the movement. The appoint ment was made by Jesse M. Whited of San Francisco, grand master of the order. McFee succeeds Alan S. O’Neal of Winston-Salem. The distinction of being the first former member to be named on the international governing body, goes to the new deputy. He is a -ma jority member of the Asheville chapter and for the last several years has been chairman of its ad visory board. Mir. Far quhar, died on Thursday, February 7, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. C. Cross, at Lunenburg, M!&ss« Mrs. Farquhar was in her eighty-ninth year. For several years at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Hale Touret, Mrs. Farquhar was a winter resident of Tryon. The funeral will be at St. Paul s Cathedral, Detroit Mich. Bishop Touret will conduct the service.
