r VTERED AS SECOND-CLASS MATTER AUGUST 20. 1928, AT THE POST OFFICF AT TRYON. N. C.. UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS MARCH 3. 1879 ®}p ffirymi Itatltr Bulletin Yol. 8 TRYON, N. C., TUESDAY, FEB. 12, 1935 Resentment Felt Over Hospital Article in News An article in last week’s Polk County News has caused some re sentment among a few readers of the paper. Exception was taken to the statement in the article that read: “We believe even those stin gy, tight, take all and give nothing type of people will come to the rescue''of the hos pital if they know that it is in danger of being closed.” A subscriber informed the writ er that it was not right to judge people by the amount they give to anything. The subscrbier is right. But the article refers ONLY to a CERTAIN TYPE of PEOPLE and is no reflection in anyway upon people who are not able to give ..something. The Lord Jesus said N fiat the widow’s mite was more what all the other church me(mbe(rs gave. That is the spirit the writer tried to exhibit. We know there are some stingy people. We are not judging them by the ajnount they give, Man lpoketh on the outwiard appearance but God looketh on the heart. God will be the judge. The article cost us a subscriber because she mis understood, but the same article brought $lO from a person living outside of the coujity who is inter ested in the hospital. She read the article from a different view point. Thatfe the way of life. Interest in the hospital campaign is increasing. Some will give a * penny to show their appreciation, others will give SIOO. Let God judge your heart Something Free Thursday night at the high school gymnasium the local town league will get into action again. These teams are playing some fancy games and in order to prove this the players of the league are asking every man, woman and child to be their guests Thursday night. There will absolutely be no charge. All we ask of you is to come out and see the games and root for your favorite team. The Players. RARE JMINS Thos. Elder of New York and Tryon, who is spending a month here showed us today some inter esting gold coins made a hundred years ago in Rutherford county by the Bechtler brothers, Augusta and Christopher. Mr. Elder dis covered these valuable coins in New York and he plans to go to Rutherfordton in a few days and try to buy some more. Polk coun ty was a part of Rutherford when the coins were made and no doubt a lot of these coins are in the possession of natives who received them from grandparents. The ooins are well executed for the time and bear the names of the Bechtlens and some of them have Rutherford on them. Only one coin had the actual date and that was Aug. 1, 1834. Mr. Elder is a prominent numismatist of New Y<?rk. KENO PARTY TONIGHT Est. 1-31-28
