C., MONDAY, FEB. 18, 1935 Farmers Federation To Meet Tuesday Farmers Federation of Polk is sponsoring a meeting of and citizens in general to be held Tuesday, January 19, at 7:30 at the Columbus courthouse, according to Claude Fisher, man ager of the local office of the Federation. Stockholders and the general public are invited. Alan Coggins of Bee Tree will speak. Lantern .slides will be shown. Lefty Flynn of Tryon will sing and Dr. James G. K. McClure will deliver the chief address. Play Postponed Drama Fortnightly post poned until next week, Feb ruary 27-28th on account of sudden illness of one of Jfce leading members of the cast. Arthur-Nabors Mrs. Mary E. Nabors of Saluda announces the marriage of her daughter, Mary Jeanette, to Mr. Frank Thomas Arthur of Tryon on January sth in Greenville, South Carolina. Spring time is clean-up and paint-up time. Somebody asked the other day when the. rest of the store buildings were going to lie painted. Appreciates Hospital The following extract from a letter to Miss Flentye will be of interest to all Polk county friends cf Mis,s Florence Cox, who was for merly home demonstration agent for this county, but who is now home demonstration agent in Hert ford county: My dear Miss Flentye : I was very much distressed to read in The Polk County News this week about th e unstable condition of the St. Luke’s hospital. I can not imjagine Tryon and Polk coun ty without the services of that in stitution, and I am isur e that the people will come to the rescue. However, just to help a little and in sincere appreciation for the many things the hospital and staff did for me whil e I had the privilege of being the home demonstration agent in the county, I am enclosing a small check. I wish it could be more but I feel that no amount can pay for th fi benefit 4-H club members and extension work have derived from St. Luke’s and its efficient staff. Very sincerely, Florence Cox. Dr. Sewall, Kiwanis Speaker Dr. Charles G. Sewall will be the chief speaker Tuesday at 1 p. m., at the Landrum Imperial hotel when the Tryon Kiwanis club holds its regular ipeeting. Louis A.
