C., TUESDAY, MARCH 12, 1935 Basketball Wed. Night In Tryon Tryon Town Team vs. Valley Falls “Red Devils” of Valley Falls, S. C. The “Red Devils” team is one of the fastest in Spartanburg county. They have been playing all season and are known to have some very fast and effective plays. The much improved Tryon Town Team is composed of these well known players; Jim Ormand, Fred Hines, Jim Fisher, Jess Walker, Fred Swann, M. B. Cald well, Nelson Leonard, Horace Newman, John Walker and J. E. Brownlee. This game will be one that you can’t afford to miss. The Tryon boys are working very hard to help the. school with the gym. All the mioney goes to the school gym, so buy your ticket today and help the Town boys to .help the school. Hounds Recognized At a meeting of the Riding -& Hunt club Monday night, Secretary Walter C. Hill announced that word had been received in Tryon from Henry G. Vaughan, president of Masters of Foxhounds Assn, of America to the effect that per manent recognition had been grant ed the Tryon hounds. Election Officials The Town Commissioners in session Monday night appointed officials to conduct the Town of Tryon election on May 7, as fol lows: Registrar B. E. Samples; judges, W. W. Creasman and R. J. Durham. Drama Fortnightly, Wednesday & Thursday March 13th and 14th Tilting Tournament Given Up Definitely The Tilting Tournament for Tryon this year has been given up definitely, according to a decision reached by officials yesterday. Tryon and Greer Split Ball Games One of the most thrilling bas ketball games ever played at Tryon was played last night between Tryon and Greer. The Tryon girls won their game by a scoire of 19-12. The Tryon boys were in the lead all through their game, until the last 30 seconds, when Greer nosed out by a score of 39 to 38. This was a most exciting game. The games showed excellent sports manship. Storms Sweep Across Nation St. Louis, March 11.—Rain ac companied by hail, snow and sleet rode high winds out of the north west today and overflowed swollen streams in Missouri and southern Illinois. Farm lands were flooded in parts of southeastern Missouri. Residents abandoned their homes. A tornadic wind storm swept oil fields at Electra, Tex., wrecked a number of derricks and unroofed several power plants. Schilter, Okla., experienced a heavy wind and hail storm.
