C., FRIDAY, MARCH 22, 1935 Bill to Repeal Polk Absentee Law Is Passed • Raleigh, March 21. —The house Thursday passed Representative Cloud’s bill repealing the absentee voters law for local elections only in Polk county. The original bill repealed it for all elections in Polk, but was amended on motion of Sullivan, of Buncombe, to pro hibit use of absentee hallots for local officers only. It will not ap ply to State officers. Asheville Citizen. Golf Results The finals of the President’s cup tournament at the Tryon Coun try club were completed yesterday ♦fcwhen J. C. Kimberly tied the scores f B. B. Bishop, Sr., and Frank "Wilcox who finished last week with a net score of 231 for the three rounds of the tournament. Mr. Kimberly’s score yesterday was 105 with a 25 handicap, a net for the third round of 80, and total net for the three rounds of 231. These three men will play off their tie within the next few days. The trophy for this tournament was donated by President M. A. Rich ards. Other players finishing yesterday wore Chas. G. Sewall, 104, 23 handicap, net 81, total net 244; H. H. Parmalee 105, 25, 80, total net 236; K. A. Bowen 107, 21, 86, total net 246. BASEBALL FOR TRYON Play Ball! shout local fans as the movement to have a baseball team for Tryon gets underway. Strike three! on inertia. Constable J. M. Early, Ralph Hardin and Eb. Fisher go to bat. They have on sale season tickets at $2.50 for ten or more games, making each game cost only 25 cents or less. Money is needed for equipment such as uniforms, bats, balls, etc. Now is the time to buy your tick et for a season’s pleasure. The men are here for a good team and they are willing to play, but the public must buy the equipment. Watcha say, big boy! put-er right here and see Jim Early for a tick et. Tryon is headed for the little league and you will see some in teresting baseball. Slide! Slide! your hands into your pocket now and get a season ticket. Don’t let procrastination Steal any happy moments from you when $2.50 wiil give you ten home games of base ball this summer. You may not knock a home run in, the game but you can make a big hit now by buying a season ticket. Pinch hit ters are needed now or the whole team will be out and no baseball for Tryon. It is Safe to say that to put anything over there must be good team work. It’s the last half of the ninth inning. The score is 2-1 in favor of the visi tors. The home team is at bat.
