Annual Tennis
Tournament Starts
At Country Club
The Tryon Tennis Association
is having its annual men’s singles
tennis championship starting on
Wednesday, May first, at the
association courts at the Tryon
Country club. All members are
eligible free of charge and non
members can play by paying 25
cents per day. Prizes will be giv
en the winner and the runner-up.
All first and second round matches
must be played and result posted
at the Country club by Sunday
evening, Msly sth.
Below are listed the pairings for
the first round. All matches are
beet two out of three sets.

Miss Mary Betty Mason of. Try
on has been named
of the graduating class of the col
lege at St. Genevieve-of-the-Pines,
it was announced yesterday. Miss
Mason’s scholastic average was
above 96.
Miss Mason is the daughter of
Mrs. K. M. Mason of Tryon. She
is vice-president of the graduat

Riding & Hunt Club
Last Meet Thursday
The Tryon Riding & Hunt club
will hold its last meeting of the
season on Thursday night at 8
•o’clock at Pine Crest Inn. Presi
dent F. J. McDonald states that
it is important that all bills be
presented before that meeting. *
All Commissioners

At time of going to press today
the only candidates who had filed
for election to the Town offices
were Mayor E. E. Missildine and
the present board of commissioners
composed of R. S. Jackson, F. P.
Bacon and Marshall Ballew. Any
other candidate desiring to have
his name piinted on the ticket must
file at once as the law requires
that the ballots be turned over to
the register three days before the
election.
