Capps Reunion To
Be Held Sunday
There will be a family reunion
in honor of Mrs. Betty Capps on
Mother’s Day Sunday on the lawn
of R. A. Leonard. All the chil
dren and grandchildren and a few
friends are expected. A plate din
ner will be served.
Tennis Results
The tenth and eleventh matches
in the Tryon Tennis Association
championship tournament we re
played Wednesday. W. M. Hester
defeated J. C. Kinloch, Jr., 6-4;
6-4, aind Fred McLaughlin defeat
ed A. M. Law 2-6; 6-2; 6-0.
Cowan’s Anniversary
John Cowan, local grocer , is
celebrating his second anniversary
today 1 as a grocer in the Town of
THryon. Mr. Cowan started business
in the building now occupied by
the City Market. He had a smell
stock of goods but the quantity
and variety increased week by
week until now he has a modern
grocery store with a moat mar
ket, too.

versial subjects after legalizing
wine and wlrestfing with liquor
problems during early sessions to
day, the General Assembly made
strong headway toward completion
