C., MONDAY, MAY 20, 1935 Celebrated 60th Anniversary of Wedding Sunday Columbus, May 18. Mr. and Mrs. William H. Cantrel, of Polk county, celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary Sunday at their home in the Green Creek section. Mr. Cantrell is 82 years old and is in good health., He has lived his entire life in the same community in this county. Mjrs. Cantrell is 76 and also enjoys good health. They have nine children, 39 grandchil dren and nine great-grandchildren. —Asheville Citizen. Announcement The following invitations have been received by Tryon friends: Mr. and Mrs. Edward T. H. Shaffer request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daugh ter, Jane Terry, to Mr. James Blanding Holman, on Saturday evening, June the eighth, at eight o’clock, Saint Jude’s Episcopal church, Walterboro, S. C. Mr. and Mrs. Shaffer and daugh ter have made their summer home ip Saluda for many years. Bishop’s Reception The Rt. Rev. R. E. Gribbin and Mrs. Gribbin are receiving their many friends throughout the Diocese of Western North Carolina tomorrow, Tuesday, May 21, 60 Ravenscroft Drive, Asheville, from 4 to 6 and from 8 to 10 p. m. Weather permitting a number from Holy Cross Parish hope to attend. Tryon Wins Over Enka Nine, 7 to 3 Rob Capps led a nine-hit assault on Joe Hall here Saturday after noon and Tryon pounded out a 7-3 victory over American Enka in an Industrial league clash. Merrill gathered one half of Enka’s eight hits for a perfect day at bat. Score by innings: Enka 000 001 020—3 8 6 Tryon 002 014 OOx—7 9 2 Hall and Swayngim; Foster and Capps. Kiwanis at Landrum The Tryon Kiwanis club will meet Tuesday at 1 p. m. at the Imperial Hotel in Landrum. C. M. Howes will have charge of the program and W. E. Kilpin the current events. Visit to Museum Is Again Postponed The pilgrimage to the Colburn Museum in Asheville has again been postponed on account of the weather. The date will be an nounced later. Anyone desiring to visit this most interesting collec tion of rare Indian relics, minerals and gems of Western North Caro lina should makl reservations with Mrs. G. L. Canfield at once.
