C., WEDNESDAY, MjAY 29, 1935 O’Farrell At Rotary H. L. Shelnutt will have charge of the Rotary program when the club meets Friday at 1 p. m., at Lake Lanier Inn. The chief fea ture -of the program will be an entertainment entitled “A Little of This and A Little of That and Much of Nothing” presented by John C. O’Farrell of Augusta, Ga., who is spending his vacation in Tryon at the Wm. A. Dobbyn home. Mr. O’Farrell has broadcast his programs over a number of radio stations and has presented them before Rotarians, Kiwanians and other civic clubs elsewhere. National Memorial Day On Thursday Thursday, May 30, is National Memorial Day and all the post offices and banks of the nation will be closed including the Tryon Bank & Trust Company and the Mutual Bank of Landrum. Celebrate July 4th The Tryon Kiwanis club meeting Tuesday ac the Landrum Baptist church voted to sponsor a com munity July Fourth Celebration at Harmon Field similar to the one held last yearr. A committee was appointed consisting of C. J. Lynch, R. L. McNeely, C. P. Rogers, and K. A. Bowen. Mills Gap Road May Be Reopened By Next Tuesday The six-mile stretch between the South Ps.colet River and the North Carolina state line on the Mills Gap Road, now being resurfaced, should be reopened to traffic by next Tuesday, R. C. White, super intendent of the county highway maintenance office, said last night. Hr. White said that although hardly a mile had been resurfaced thus far, good weather would en able the job to be completed by the first of next week. While a detour has been pro vided, motorists going to Mill Spring, N. C., have been advised to go byway of Landrum and Tryon. —Spartanburg Herald.
