Tucker Landrum, June 4. Enoch L. J Tucker, 68, died at his residence last night after a long illness. He was born in Polk county, N. C., but had made his residence near Landrum for ia number of years. He was a member of the South side Baptist church, Landrum, and was a faithful attendant as long ds health permitted. Surviving are his widow, who before marriage was Miss Jane E. Guthrie; six sons, William Tuck er of Memphis, Tenn.; Luther Tucker of Washington; Clarence, Troy, Hover and Harvey, all of Landrum; three daughters, Mrs. W. K. Wright, Mrs. R. D. Sarratt and Mrs. M. M. Stepp, all of Landrum; one brother, L. L. Tuck er of Inman; one sister, Mrs. El bert Searcy of Polk cdunty, N. C.; 30 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on V Wednesday at 10 a. m., at Sbuth- Baptist church here, conduct ed by the Rev. Broadus Belue, the Rev. T. E. Reid and the Rev. L. J. Gosnell. Interment will follow in the cemetery of Fairview Baptist church. Pallbearers will be, Wesley Tuck er, Enoch Tucker, Jr., Oscar Tucker, Willie Tucker, Ralph Tucker, Andrew Dixson. Flower bearers will be, Ruby Sarratt, Lottie Belle Wright, Mil dred Stepp, Lola Norris, Vivian Tucker and Etta Tucker. The following are asked to as semble at the church at 10 a. m., to serve as honorary pallbearers: Dave Parris, Lee Woffoird, Ernest Smith, Green Howard, Luther Continued on Back Page Road Improved To Lake Summit From Saluda, N. C. Improvements in the Lake Sum mit road from Saluda, N. C., have been completed, according to Dr. A. Vermont. He said that for some time L. L. Clippard and Chief of Police Gur ley Lawter Os Saluda had been in terested in the project, as well as Tom Woodworth' and others. Thru R. C. Cotner, the Southern Rail way gave two loads of cinders which were placed oil the siding at Pallas. These have been placed on the road, putting the road in good condition Dr. Vermont said that fisher men there are preparing for the fishing season which will open June 10. He said several inquiries haid been made about the myster ious big fish that had been report ed seen in the lake at various in tervals. The fish has not been seen recently, he said, but if it is still alive it should be of huge size.— Spartanburg Herald. A Literary Course President S. T. Wood of the Try on Chamber of Commerce states that 1,000 pieces of literature about Tryon have been sent to Asheville to be distributed in the midwest and New England states by the Zeppelin Park to Park Goodwill Tour. The trip will begin on June 8 and is planned to advertise the whole of Western North Carolina.
