Landrum Masons to
Celebrate Festival
For the first time in the Masonic
history of South Carolina all the
Mlasonic lodges cf the Palmetto
state will meet at the same time
)on Monday night at 8 o’clock. The
Landrum lodge will celebrate the
Festival of St. John the Evange
list. Tryon and Mill Spring lodges
and all visiting Masons are invited.
A number of out-of-town lodge
officials will take part in the ser
vices.
Indian at Rotary
Club on Friday
B. L. Ballenger has charge of
the Tryon Rotary club program on
Friday at 1 p. m,, at Lake Lanier
Inn. The principal feature of the
meeting will be a program put on
by Chief Blue Sky Eagle, the In
dian member of the staff of Boy
Scout officials at the Lake Lanier
) Scout camp. Chief Eagle will
give several India-n dances includ
ing the feather dance, eagle dance,
hdop dance and another one.
League’s Straw Ride
The Tryon Epworth League will
motor to Asheville for a straw ride
Thursday evening to attend the
Epworth League Union meeting
at the Asheville Central Methodist
church.
All-Day Singing
Sunday, June 22
An all-day singing and dinner
on the ground will be enjoyed next
Sunday at the Second Baptist
church in Tryon near the Southern
Mercerizing plant. Everybody is
invited to attend and bring a bas
ket dinner and enjoy the day. Sev
eral out-of-town quartets have an
nounced that they would attend
and join in the singing.
Dance Friday
Lake Lanier Inn has announced
a dance for Friday evening. Music
will be furnished by Davenport’s
Orchestra. Admission will be $1
for a couple and 75 cents for
stags. This is the first of a series
of dances to be given this sum
mer at Lake Lanier Inn.
No New Bruno Appeal
Trenton, N. J., June 18. —C.
Lloyd Fisher, one of Bruno Rich
ard Hauptmann’s attorneys, in a
statement today said the defense
did not now contemplate any ap
peal moves beyond the hearing by
the court of errors and appeals
