McLean, 65-year-old former North Carolina governor and nationally prominent Democrat, died here to day. A blood clot on the right lung was given by physicians as the caiuse. McLean was stricken sever al weeks ago enroute from Wash ington, where he practiced law, to Atlantic City, he was brought to a hospital here by an ambulance plane.—Asheville Citizen. Moscow, June 21.—Karl Radek, political writer, declared in an article in the government news paper Izvestia today that the present international situation is a hundred times more pregnant with possibilities for a naval clash than at any other period in recent history.—Charlotte Observer. Washington, June 21. Thirty year-old Rush D. Holt of West Virginia became a senator today after two days of lively debate on the constitution which brought the senate to the conclusion that his youth did not invalidate his elec tion.—Asheville Citizen.
