It will be bigger, more colossal and greater than ever. The beautiful fireworks dis play will be more colorful and more varied than last year. Old time games and some new ones will be played, contests, dancing and mountain music are all in the plans. Musicians are invited to come and play. The whole county is expected to turn out and enjoy the holiday. Free ice water will be available and every family is urged to bring a basket of food and spread a picnic supper on the gircrunds or tables at 6:30. Many hundreds of people enjoyed the event last year and all are invited to come again. Everything is free. Bring your basket supper. More money is needed to buy fireworks. Donations will be appreciated. See C. J. Lynch or any member of the committee. Masons at Landrum A large crowd of Masons enjoy ed the Masonic meeting with the Landrum lodge on Monday even ing. Among those from Tryon helping to put on the program were the Rev. C. P. Burnett and E. B. Cawthray. Today’s Headlines A million dollar fire destroys 75 pleasure boats at Ft. Polk County Men Are Held In Whiskey Case Federal Investigators John D. Norton, Edwin C. Gregory, Jr., and Roy C, Reese reported yes terday that they had captured General L. Jones, Farry Lawter and Stanlve Gibbs of Polk county, for violating the federal liquor law. The federal officers, assisted by Grover Lyda and W. H. Durham, of the Polk county force, reported that they also destroyed 85 gallons of whiskey, 548 gallons of beer mash and 982 gallons of spent mash. The men were released on bonds of SSOO each for their ap pearance at the November term of United States district court here. —Asheville CiUzei). Home Burned The Miatheson Mountain Home, resident of Mrs. William Ladshaw, near Landrum was destroyed by fire Monday morning about 11 o’clock. The house was one of the largest in that section and was the Matheson family home for many years.
