C., FRIDAY, JULY 5, 1035 Tryon Drops Pair To Enka, 9-4, 6-4 \ Tryon, July 4. Tryon lost a *J«air of games to Enka’s industrial league representatives today, 9 to 4 and 6 to 4. Joe Hull pitched both games for Enka and held Tryon to a total of 17 hits during the games. The first game was played at Enka this morning, and the second game here this afternoon. An exciting event of the after noon game at Harmon Field was when two Enka fielders ran to gether in attempting to catch a fly. Jbne player’s nose was broken and the other one lost several teeth. Given Judgment Os $3,100 Against Town of Columbus J. L. Barringer was given a jijdjgment of $3,100 the Town of Columbus, Polk county, in a consent order signed in feder al court today. The issues in this bond default suit were reversed, however, until later decision. —Asheville Times. THRONGS ENJOY CELEBRATION Several thousand people enjoyed the Fourth of July Celebration at Harmon Field Thursday afternoon and evening. It was the largest crowd ever assembled on the com munity playground for a July 4th celebration. The fireworks display was beautiful with several new at tractive designs, the most popular being the waterfall judging by the applause. Beautiful colored lights decorated the large square dancing ring and hundreds of people from the two Carolinas joined in this event which was halted temporar ily by a sprinkling rain, but the crowd of enthusiastic dancers re paired to the Tryon gymnasium and finished there before a packed house. Fire Destroys Rutherford Co. Fair Grandstand Forest City, July 4.—Fire swept through the grandstand at the Rutherford county fair grounds near here about 4* c/clock Thurs day afternoon during a Fourth of July celebration, but the crowd, estimated at 2,500, made an order ly exit and no one was injured. A few hours before the fire, Rutherford county people, seated in the grandstand, heard an ad dress by Cole L. Blease, former governor of and former U. S. sen aitcr from South Carolina.
