New Sewerage
System Needed
>We want to call the attention
of our readers to a page adver
tisement in this issue of The Bul
letin which states the need of the
Town of Tryon for a new sewerage
system. FERA officials suggest
thc.t the Town borrow the $25,000
needed since the Federal govern
ment will donate 45 percent of the
money and loan the balance at 4
percent. The work can all be done
at once under the best supervision.
The Town would have to put in a
new system anyway as the present
system is in a bad condition. If
we do not borrow from the govern
ment we will have to pay private
sources the full amount and at a
third additional interest. To bor
row this m.oney from the govern
ment new will not increase our tax
rate one cent. If we wait and have
to get the money elsewhere we will
increase our tax rate about $1 and
)?ilso have to share part of the bur
den to help pay for what some
other community received. Figures
show that we will save considerable
money by borrowing from the gov
ernment NOW. Advise your Town
Commissioners of your position.
Kiwanis Picnic
The members of the Tryon Ki
wanis club will hold a picnic next
Tuesday, July 16, at Lake Lanier
Inn docks. Wives of the members

provided each member furnishes
basket lunch for all in his party.
Louis A. Avant has change of the
program which will be one of fun
and frolic.

Golf League
Match Thursday
The Tryon golf team is looking
forward to the match with the
Morganton team of the Piedmont
League which will be played on
Thursday afternoon at the Tryon
Country club. Tryon lost recently
by a cldse score to Morganton on
their course and the local players
feel that they will have a better
chance to win Thursday on their
own club’s course.
