C., TUESDAY, JULY 16,' 1935 Est. 1-31-28 Indian Pageant The public is cordially invited to witness an Indian Pageant at he Piedmont Boy Scout Camp on evening beginning at a: 15. The Hiawatha pageant will be given under the direction of the Indian staff member, Chief Blue Sky Eagle. A Good Appointment His associate members of the county board paid a compliment to Mr. J. R. Mallory when they ap pointed him a member of the new school district sinking fund com mission which was created by an act of the legislature at its recent session. Mr. Mallory is a successful tex tile manufacturer in Landrum and * has other business interests. He is, we believe, the youngest mem ber of the county board and has Muthfully served the people of the ciounty. His appointment to the new sinking fund commission was a vote of confidence by those with whom he has served and the Other members of the commission will find in him an earnest and con scientious worker. Spartanburg Herald. Ford-Barnette Miss Geneva Ford and Mr. Lon nie Barnette were married Mon day at noon in Spartanburg. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Broadus Ford of Tryon and the groom is the son of Mr .and Mrs. Carl Barnette of Landrum, S. C. Mr. and Mrs. Barnette will make their home in Tryon. At Sea “North Carolina editors are go ing to sea this week for their an nual summer convention and to bring the figurative and the liter al into pleasant harmony, it would be proper for them to invite the North Carolina delegation in Con gress to be their guests.”—Char lotte Observer. The congressmen are already at sea, and have been there for some time. Kiwanis Picnic Tryon Kiwanians and guests will assemble at Lake Lanier dock this aftarnoon at 6:30 for their annual picnic. Ted Ballenger has accepted a position with the Tryon A&P Tea Co., and succeeds William Bur nett, who is ndw with the Southern Bell Telephone Co., at Asheville. Master Tommy Southworth of Norfolk, Va., is visiting his aunt, Mrs. Rozelle Fisher. F. W. Brownlee and family are in Charleston, S. C., where they were called by the death of Mrs. Brownlee’s mother, Mrs. Wragg. Dance Wednesday Advertisement in today’s Bulle tin announces a combination round and square dance to be given in the Tryon gymnasium on Wednes day evening from 9 to 1 o’clock. Barnett brothers’ string band will furnish the music. This band has an extensive reputation as good musicians.
