C., THURSDAY, JULY 25, 1935 Est. 1-31-28 TRYON ARTIST DIES SUDDENLY Homer Ellertson, 42, noted Try on artist and author, passed away suddenly today about 11 o’clock as he result of a heart attack at his iome in Gillette Woods. Burial services will be private on Fri day afternoon. The deceased was a native of River Falls, Wis., but for the past 15 years had been a resident of Tryon. Mr. Ellertson is survived by his widow, formerly Miss Margaret Law, and by his mother and other relatives. Cooking School To- Day and Friday The Duke Power Co. Cooking School is being held this afternoon far the colored people in order to give the cooks of the community some valuable suggestions on the new ways to prepare summer meals on the electric stove. On Friday "yening at the Tryon School au xorium, the white people, men and women will attend the demon stration which will be under the direction of Mrs. Kathleen Heri tage. Attendance prizes will be given to the persons whose names arc drawn. Everybddy invited. C. .1. SCHOFF DIED THIS MORNING C. J. Schoff, 72, former promi nent business man of Cadallic, Michigan, and fbr the past six years a citizen of Tryon township at Valhalla, passed away early this morning as the result of cut ting his throat and wrists. He had been in poor health for some time. His wife and a son and two daughters survive. Funeral plans have not been announced, TRYON WINS IN GOLF MATCHES In a golf tournament at the Tryon Country club on Tuesday afternoon Eai’l Rion and F. P. Bacon lost to F. Owen and C. Pat ton of Morganton by 3 poitns. C. N. Sayre and B. B. Bishop won ovur D. Martin and F. Hoffman bv three points. Larry Brooks and Nelson Jackson, Jr. won two points bv default. Un-employed to be Registered Again A representative of the Nation al Reemployment Office will be in Columbus on Friday, July 26th from 10 a. m. to 4:30 p. m. and in Cooper’s Gap on July 30th at Whiteside’s store from 10 to 12:30 noon and at Jackson store from 1:30 to 4:30 p. m. fw the purpose of registering all persons who a'e unemployed.
