The battery for Tryon was Hardin, Foster, Ed Fisher and R. Durham. Good Hitting Walter Stephenson, Saluda base ball catcher making good with the Chicago Cubs, caught for the Cubs in their victorious jseeond game of a double header with Cincinnati Sunday. Os the nine hits the Cubs made, Walter made three of them out of the four times at bat. Girls Kill Rattler A rattlesnake, 4 1 / £ feet long and 'IV2 inches in diameter with 10 rattlers and a button was -killed Sunday morning on Warrior Mi. by two young girls, Misses Beulah Bradshaw and Myrtle Davis of VWa,Trior Mt. Another and smaller rattler was killed last week on Warrior Mt. by Ulysses Brad shaw with seven rattlers and a button. Tryonite to Marrv In Minnesota This Week Local friends will be interested in the marriage of Marshall Streadwick, formerly of Tryon, to Miss Agatha McLoughlin. The wedding will take place in Minnea polis on August 10. Part of the honeymoon will be spent in Tryon visiting relatives. Bavnards Hurt In An Auto Accident The following news item from a St. Petersburg (Fla.) paper of recent date, will be of interest to the friends of the Baynards, who are former Polk county resi dent? : “Lawrence W. Baynard, head of the Baynard Funeral home, 770 Fourth avenue north, and his sis ter, Mrs. Adelaide Stone, Saraso ta, were injured, the former more seriously, around midnight last night when their car struck a cow on the highway near Live Oak, said reports reaching here today. Neither was reported in any im mediate danger, although reports here early this morning said Law rence Baynard was in critical con dition. Walter Lee Baynard, real estate operator and brother of Lawrence, was also in the car at the time of the accident but escaped with only minor injuries, it was said. The accident occurred at around midnight. The Baynards and Mrs. Stone, formerly of this city, were enroute to Hendersonville, N, C.” Women’s Meetings The Woman’s Missionary society of the Tryon Methodist church will meet on Tuesday afternoon at 4 o’clock with Mrs. P.
