Mrs. Malinda Waters
Tryon, N. C., Aug. 29. Mrs.
Malinda Caroline Waters, 36, wife
of Z. V. Waters of near Tryon,
died in a hospital near Fletcher
yesterday at 5 p. m.
A native of Pdlk county, Mrs.
'Waters was a daughter of the late
t). D. Pace ,and Mrs. Mary Burns
"^iPace.
She is survived by her husband;
three daughters, Misses Viola, An
nie May and Margaret Pace; four
sons, Homer, Harold, Harvey and
Alfred Pace; three brothers, Mon
roe Pace of Saluda, Cecil Pace of
Spartanburg county and Orville
Pace of Greenville county; two
half brothers, T. G. Pace and E. D.
Pace, both of Landrum, route 2;
four sisters, Mrs. Mark Burrell
and Mrs. W. J. Emory, both of
Tryon, Mrs. B. H. Pace and Mrs.
Fred Metcalf, both of near Mel
rose.
Funeral services will be held to
morrow at 11 a. m., at the Fall
Creek Baptist church near Melrose,
conducted by the Rev. B. H. Gos
nell. Interment will follow in the
chvfrch cemetery. —< Spa'rtanburg
Dance Tonight
The Lake Lanier Inn Dance will
be held tonight from 10 to 1:30.
Music will be furnished by Luke
Chaney’s ten-piece orchestra. A
large number of out-of-town people
are expected as usual.

had charge of the program.
The Tryon Boys Club
Makes Good Showing
A silver cup for the most out
standing boy in the Tryon Boys
club was awarded this morning to
Thurston Arledge at the closing
exercises at the Tryon school audi
torium. Presentation of the cup
w,2)s made by J. N. Jackson. Group
ihree, of which Edward Manville
is leader, was awarded the shield
for the best organized group. Maj.
Sharp presented the shield. Bill
Elfrink received honorable men
tion as an outstanding boy in the
club.
Dr. George F. Taylor, who was
the organizer and headmaster of
the club this summer, presided at
the meeting and told of the excel
lent work the boys had done in
learning to do useful things with

Is Called To
Cumberland, Md.
The Rev. David Cairtwright
Clark formerly retor of St. James
church at Tako'ma Park, Washing
ton, D. C., has been called to the
Emmanuel Church of Cumberland,
Md., and has already taken up his
residence there. Dr. and Mrs.
John Brittan Clark, who are now
at Chester, Mass., will spend the
fall with their son, and Mrs. David
Clark until after Thanksgiving
when they plan to spend the win
ter in Florida. The Rev. David
Cl?/rk began his study for the
ministery in Tryon and friends
