C., WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 18 ,1935 Est. 1-31-28 SOIL CONSERVATION AS SOCIATION ORGANIZED At s'. meeting 'it the courthouse Monday afternoon the Polk Coun ty Soil Conservation Association was organized. The following men were elected as directors for the ensuing year: C. A. Jolley, J. H. Gibbs, S. J. Fagan, J. M. Powell, J. Scion Williams and J. A. Wil son end W. D. Westbrook. From these directors the officers will be elected. The Association already has 25 members. Members of this or ganization are eligible to sign agreements with the CCC camo officials and secure their aid in planning and controlling soil ero sion. Any farmer within a 25 mile radius of the camp at Spindale is eligible to join this Association and get the services of this camp. This can be dene by signing the articles of the association at the county agent’s office. Off to Navy James Terrell Green, Jr., a.nd Alexander Jennings Ford have gone to Raleigh headquarters of the Navy before going to the navy training school. Williams, Polk county game protector, states that the hunting season for doves, will open on Saturday, September 21st. F. B. Bradley Forest City, Sept. 17.—F. B. Bradley, aged 56, died at his homo in Spindale Sunday afternoon af ter an extended illness. Funeral services were held at the Spindai Methodist church Monday after noon alt 3 o’clock, with the pastor, the Rev, W, R. Kelly, in charge assisted by the Rev. T. M. Hester, r’s o of Spindale. Interment was in the Rutherfordton cemetery. Mr. Bradley was a member of the Bethlehem Methodist church of Polk county. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. F. B. Bradley, of Spin dale; three sisters, Mrs. Oliver Hill and Mrs. Collie Williams of Rutherfordton; £*nd Miss Carrie Wilkins of Columbia, S. C.—Spar tanburg Herald. TAX-EXEMPTION CERTIFICATES Tax-Exemption Certificates for the cotton growers of Polk county are ready for distribution. To ac co*mmodate the farmers these were given out one day in Green Creek at Branscomb’s store and one-half day at Taylor’s store at Pea Ridge. Any farmer who has not received his certificates should call at the office of the county agent and get them. Certificates which were turned in to be exchanged for 1935 cer tificates have not been returned from Washington. As soqja as they are received farmers will be noti fied.
