C., UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH 3, 1879 TRYON WANTS TRAVEL OFFICIALS Another meeting will be held to tonight (Thursday) at 7:30 at Missildine’s hall for the purpose of making plans to entertain” about 60 travel agency officials who are coming to Tryon fdr an over-night visit on October 17th. It will be pnrt of an 11 day preview of the Carolinas. If we give a favorable impression it will result in these executives sending us thousands of tourists every year. In the party cf 60 people coming, 24 of them are women. These officials will come from New Xo*rk, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Ken r tucky, West Virginia, Massachu setts, Rhode Island, Alabama and New Jersey. Among them will be magazine and newspaper officials. General Chairman C. J. Lynch wants all persons interested to meet with the committees tonight fy( Thursday) hhd be free to offer ryiny suggestions they think might ' help entertain these prominent' guests. THe Polk County Apple Show to be held in Tryon on October 10, 11 and 12 will give local people an opportunity to see the best apples grown in this section. It will be a good time to place orders direct with the growets, too. War At Rotary Maj. Bernard Sharp will give a talk on the war situation on Friday at 1 p. m., at the Tryon Rotary club at Lake Lanier Inn. Wilson Services Sunday Afternoon Funeral services for Private Hicks G. Wilson, 29, who was killed in a government airplane crash in Hawaii on August 23, will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 o’clock at Big Level Baptist church in Polk county near Mill Spring. The Rev. H. J. Almond and Rev. C. B. Trammel will officiate. The de ceased was 0i member of the Mason ic lodge and local Masons will al so take part in the funeral ser vices. Private Wilson was a mem ber of the Masonic lodge in Georgia while stationed at Ft. Benning for six years where he was an en gineer in the aviation corps. He was in Hawaii about a year. The U. S. government is bringing the body to Tryon today (Thursday) on the afternoon train at 4:30. Private Chas. H. Feddcr is the official escort for the body from New York. The deceased is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Wil son of Mill Spring and many other relatives throughout this section. NOTICE Miss Elizabeth Thomas of the State Employment Ser vice will be in Tryon at the Town Office each Friday to receive applications of those who are unemployed desiring work. All those who are un employed at present are urged to register with Miss Thomas.—Ad.
