Football Thursday
The local Tryon-Saluda team
^ill play the Roebuck team on
Thursday, October 17th, at 3:30.
Every member of the squad prom
ises to show improvement over
^rmer playing and a jam-up* game
| predicted. Tryon has met Roe
buck four times previously and
every meeting has—resulted in a
victory for Tryon except one,
which was a tie. Tomorrow, every
one is anxious to keep up the good
record and will fight hard.
Among the outstanding players
who will no doubt give good ac
counts of themselves will be,
Shields, now a driving power in
the backfield, Blackwell, shifty
running back, Kerhulas and Mc
Geachy in the line. Green is
again expected to live up to his
reputation. The game starts at
3:30 at Harmon Field.
This Prescription
Not Good In Tryon
X> The prescription: “An Apple
Xjfc A Day Will Keep the Doctor
Away”, doesn’t work in Tryon.
We held an apple show for1 two
days last week-end and now all the
doctors in sixteen counties have
ccme to Tryon today for the Tenth
District Medica.l convention.
Tryon welcomes the Tenth Dis
trict doctors. The community is
gradually becoming a haven for
medical people. Among those mak
ing Tryon their home within the
past few years are Dr. Louis
Fuldner of Milwaukee: Dr. J. I.
Lee of Detroit; Dr. Rosa L. Gantt
of Spe<rtanburg; Dr. O. E. Haisch,
Dubuque, Iowa, and only recently
Dr. David Edsall, dean of the
Harvard Medical college, who has
built a home in Gillette Woods.
Tryon is proud of its medical
connections. St. Luke’s hospital
here is a testimony of the appre
ciation of Trvon for Dr. A. J.
Jervey, Dr. M. C. Palmer and Dr. .
Earle Grady. Tryon also is head
quarters for the Polk County Unit
of the American Woman’s Hospi
tals, thanks to Dr. Gantt, a for
mer president of the National or
ganization. Tryon always goes
over the top every year for the
county in the Red Cross Drive.
