Nice Boxes
The Town of Tryon has just
placed two attractive trash re
cepticles on Trade street in front
cf the drug stores. They look as
nice as government mail boxes.
They have a dark green color and
have automatic lids that keep the
contents of the cans covered. These
two cans should help keep Trade
street cleaner. The co-operation of
everyone is solicited. If the right
spirit is shown by the public the
City Fathers might buy some more
cans so the people won’t have to
walk so far to reach a trash can.
No law, rule or convenience is
worth a cent unless the sentiment
of the public supports it.

HENRY
A number of readers have asked
recently for information about
Henry Shankle, Jr., who travelled
from Tryon to Portland, Oregon,
in an old delapidated Model “T”
Ford last August? He made the
interesting trip in unusually good
time and the journey created a lot
of interest on this side of the con
tinent as well as on the Pacific
Coast. Since arriving in Port
land, Henry has been so busy that
he hasn’t found much time to
write. A Ford dealer in Portland
was so proud of Henry’s record
that he persuaded him to trade in
the old Model “T” for a better
1929 Model “A”. Henry is still
taking a business course at the
Oregon School of Technology and
has been given a 20 per cent in
crease in salary at the printing
office where he works in day time.
