S .Army the past six y.ars, Returned Wednesday afternoon to make his home with his mother, Mrs. Julia Brock. Jim spent three years in Hawaii and three years at El Paso, Texas, where he was in the Cavalry at Ft. Bliss. He received his discharge papers on October 11 and visited California bsfore coming to Tryon. Combination Dance At The Try on Gym A combination dance will be giv en Friday evening at the Tryon school gymnasium. Music will be furnished by the Barnette Broth ers String Band. Federal Projects In Neighborhood The Federal government has an nounced its approval of the use of $5,471 of Federal funds for re pairs to school property in Land rum. The sponsors will give $123. It will require approximately six months to complete the work and an average of 33 men will be em ployed daily. P.T.A. Party Tonight A few extra tables have been re served for anyone finding at the last minute that they would be able to attend the party tonight. Admission 50c for everything, re freshments, games and prizes. Drivers’ Applications Have Arrived Here The Tryon Motor Company an nounces in an advertisement in to day’s Tryon Daily Bulletin that they have received driver’s license applications from Raleigh and that motorists wanting them may apply for them now as the time to get them without cost and examination will be up by November Is. Only 100,000 Drivers Licenses Mailed Out Raleigh, Oct. 23.—Arthur Fulk, director of the highway safety division of the state revenue de partment, estimated today ap proximately 100,000 drivers li censes had been mailed as compar ed with approximately 800,000 ap plications received. Fulk said all applications post marked prior to midnight October 31 will be accepted without cost for the licenses. Fulk called attention to section 5 of the uniform drivers’ licenses act, which mekes it unlawful for any person under the age of 21 years to drive a motor vehicle while it is in use as a public passenger carrying vehicle, such as busses. He said the law would be strictly enforced.—Asheville Citizen. Fish Fry The Wesley Brotherhood will give a Fish Fry tonight at Harmon Fied. These events have been so enjoyable during the summer that the club is extnding the season as far as possible.
