C., UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH 3, 1879 Lanier Club Concerts Start Friday, Nov. 8th The 1935-36 season of Lanier Club Cncerts will be inaugurated on Friday evening, November 8th, when Benj. DeLoache, internation ally known baritone will be heard in a recital at the Parish House. Mr. DeLoache made his first bid for fame as winner in the Atwater Kent audition. After studies in New York and abroad, he has sung with the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra under Leopold Stokow ski, in the Metropolitan Opera, and this year represented American musicians in the King's Jubilee Concerts in London. Mr. De Loache’s concert tour will take him to all the larger musical centers of the country, and Tryon is for tunate indeed to have this oppor tunity to hear him in a recital. Season tickets for the series of three Lanier club concerts will be on sale in a few days. A Hallowe’en Supper-Party Miss Dale Baldwin will rnter tain eight little friends with a Hrllowe’en supper at 6 o’clock this afternoon at her home, “Sidabacon” on “Turnagin Lane”. All guests sire invited to come in costumes. Combination Dance At The Tryon Gym A combination dance will be giv en this evening at the Tryon school gymnasium. Music will be furnished by the Barnette Broth ers String Band. Benefit Bridge Very Successful The benefit bridge-game party which was held at the Parish House on Thursday evening was very successful. This was spon sored by the Parent-Teacher As sociation’s Ways and Means com mittee of which Mrs. H. L. Shel nutt and Mrs. J. S. Cromer are joint-chairmen. The amount of $38.00 which was taken in will be applied to the home economic funds. At the conclusion of the games Mfrs. E. P. Williams held the high score for the ladies and Mr. C. H. Helms for the men. The low score prizes went to Miss Addie Daniel and M]r. C. M. Eargle. Mrs. Harold Doubleday cut the consola tion prize in the games contest. Basketball Tonight Tryon high school girls will play the to'wn girls at 7:30 tonight at the Tryon gymnasium. “The school girls are little, but loud. They hsvve been practicing hard and this promises to be an excit ing game.” says the school report er. There will be a small admis sion of five cents. Dr. Sewall Will Preach On Sunday Dr. Chas. G. Sewall will fill the pulpit at the Erskine Memorial Congregational church on Sunday moraine: at 11 o’clock. His sub ject will be announced in Satur day’s Bulletin.
